BGR joins GERRI as associated partner

The Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), a subordinate to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), will be an important partner to the German raw materials research network GERRI. BGR will support GERRI not only with its “hot wire to Berlin”, but also with geoscientific advice and technical infrastructure. The central authority holds expertise complementing the raw materials network’s with competences in the first phases of the value chain: „Exploration & Mining“, „Modeling“ and „Processing“.

The BGR’s Deutsche Rohstoffagentur (DERA, German Mineral Resources Agency) publishes reports and studies on availability and application of resources which are of strategic importance for the economy, politics and research. Within the GERRI network, the partners will work together on a sustainable, “ecological and economic use […] of natural resources” as BGR describes its mission.
