GERRI provides a large range of methods for the production of new materials either from primary but also from secondary sources. The applications are manifold: magnets, battery materials, catalysts are just a selection of the possibilities. With these approaches it is possible to achieve high performing materials by using less resources via substitution of critical elements or materials, the usage of recycled materials or by applying new resource-efficient technologies. The used technologies range from remelting of metals, production of alloys, to ultra small and nanoparticles, nanocrystal and amorphous materials. All methods follow application orientated research and are ready to use. Most of the technologies are applicable in demo scale, which ensures that requests can be handled by GERRI in a broad range from basic research up to application processes with industrial relevance.
This aims at the development of innovative materials, the substitution of very rare and expensive raw materials and the use of recycled feedstock.

Producing small particles is relevant for many technologies like catalysis, pharmacy, recycling of magnets and alloys. Special techniques for heat sensitive products or for the production of nanoparticles are needed.
