The first Raw Materials Summit of the EIT RawMaterials took place in Berlin from 20 to 22 May. The approximately 400 visitors and participants from research, industry, politics and venture capital were able to experience an extensive program on the subject of mineral and metallic raw materials.
Experts from Europe and around the world will discuss innovations and new technologies that cover the entire value chain of raw materials. The most important issues in the raw materials sector were discussed, including strategies for the provision and sustainable access to raw materials, the competitiveness and innovation capacity of European industry, and entrepreneurial initiatives and innovations in education.
Numerous representatives of the GERRI partners participated in the event as visitors and as stakeholders. The GERRI network itself took part in the event with a stand supervised by Dipl.-Ing. Kai Rasenack. The discussions and information material led to an exchange regarding the GERRI activities as well as the jointly defined goals on an international level. This enabled new contacts to be made and existing ones to be deepened. Especially the participation of experts along the entire value chain of metallic raw materials in the network was of interest.
