Member of the GERRI executive board elected to the GDMB chairman
On 11 October 2018 Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Stelter was elected concordantly to chairman of the GDMB Society of Metallurgists and Miners. Prof. Stelter is one of the GERRI executive board members and director of the Institute for Nonferrous Metallurgy and Purest Materials of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. The election took place at the general assembly in Goslar. Until now, Prof. Stelter was a member of the presiding committee and an acting chairman of GDMB.
The GDMB is an internationally recognized society for the support of scientific, technological, economic, and ecological matters in the fields of raw materials and georesources, non-ferrous metallurgy, recycling, and environmental technology. The members are individuals, companies, university institutes and public authorities. They have expertise in mining of raw materials, metallurgy and material production as well as in the fields of processing, land rehabilitation and renaturing.
„In my tenure I would like to position GDMB internationaly even better as now and especially to intensify the relationships to the Universities in Germany as well as abroad (favoured are USA, Canada, South America and South of Africa)“ explains Prof. Stelter.
Furthermore Prof. Stelter would like to make GDMB more attractive for young engineers and students via intensely formation of networks as well as Europe-wide cooperation with companies. “In the coming decades metallurgy and mining will stay at the core of economical and social development in Europe.”
