TU Bergakademie Freiberg
The Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg has a unique profile as a resource university with excellent competences in the field of sustainable raw materials and energy management as well as the circular economy. The four core fields, i.e. earth sciences, materials & substances, energy and environment, give the university its outstanding profile, which enables it to realise holistic research approaches with practical relevance.
To tackle the economic and environmental challenges of the 21st century, the university's six faculties are conducting interdisciplinary research on alternatives for raw material extraction, energy technologies, material engineering and recycling processes. Together with national and international partners, modern technologies and procedures for the responsible use of exhaustible resources are being developed.
⇒ Represented by Institute for Nonferrous and Purest Materials (INEMET)
The Institute for Nonferrous Metallurgy and Purest Materials (INEMET) specializes on the research and education in the field of nonferrous metallurgy. The core areas of research and education comprise production, refining and recycling of nonferrous metals as well as the development of new hydro- and pyrometallurgical methods on the one hand and the development of technological plants for the recovery of nonferrous metals and materials recycling on the other hand. In addition at INEMET the crystal growth of semiconductor materials is developed and researched.
